De games
PlayStation™ The Concert neemt de toeschouwers mee in de wereld van legendarische games zoals God of War, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima en de Horizon-reeks. Deze games worden wereldwijd geprezen voor hun adembenemende soundtracks en meeslepende werelden. Een all-star ensemble, dat zowel klassieke als moderne instrumenten gebruikt, brengt live de scores van beroemde componisten zoals Bear McCreary (God of War), Gustavo Santaolalla (The Last of Us), Ilan Eshkeri (Ghost of Tsushima) en Joris De Man (Horizon). Dit alles wordt versterkt door geavanceerde visuele effecten en een surround sound-ervaring die de fans midden in de actie plaatsen.
De muziek
Muziek in videogames legde de afgelopen twee decennia een lange weg af. Door het aantrekken van talent van hoog niveau, leidde dit tot meer symfonische partituren en componisten die veel meer betrokken zijn bij het proces van het maken van games. De melancholische gitaar- en strijkersklanken van Gustavo Santaolalla uit The Last of Us overleefde de adaptatie van de game naar een HBO-serie. Dit bewijst het essentiële belang van de muziek voor het emotionele verhaal van het spel. Het succesvolle resultaat is een harmonieuze mix van het bekende en het frisse, dat zowel toegewijde fans als nieuwkomers aanspreekt. Samen met een aantal andere componisten tekende de Nederlandse componist Joris de Man voor de muziek uit de Horizon-reeks. Bear McCreary, bekend om zijn krachtige, intense muziek voor God of War, gebruikte een mix van orkestrale en traditionele Noorse instrumenten om de mythologische sfeer van de game te versterken. Om de historische setting en de emotionele diepgang van het verhaal te versterken, liet Ilan Eshkeri, componist van Ghost of Tsushima, zich inspireren door traditionele Japanse muziek.
